Finally finished Genesis' Rapier!
It's mostly made of wood. The blade and grip are made out of one piece of wood and the wing-shaped parts are seperate pieces. The knuckle bow is made of several layers of fun foam and the 'materia' on the pommel and in between the wings are (bits of) styrofoam balls. There's even a bit of wire in there. Most of this I filled out or just covered and smoothed out with plaster, then spray-painted and varnished. The grip is wrapped with linen tape. The length of the blade and handle is scaled down to a length slightly shorter than it should be for my height, to make it a bit more convenient to transport. The decorations around the hilt and the knuckle bow are a bit larger in proportion so it would still fit my hand. All this made a whole lot easier by *chioky's drawing of the design: [link] The blade has been lying around for ages, so I'm happy I've finally gotten around to finishing it!
